ZAKIR HUSSAIN is a legendary percussionist and an international phenomenon. A classical tabla virtuoso of the highest order, his consistently brilliant and exciting performances have not only established him as a national treasure in his own country, India, but also gained him worldwide fame. Widely considered a chief architect of the contemporary world music movement, Zakir's contribution in this area has been unique with historic collaborations, including the east-meets-west quartet Shakti, which he founded in 1975 with John McLaughlin. The group disbanded in 1978, they reunited in 1998 to tour as Remember Shakti.

JOHN MCLAUGHLIN Only a handful of guitarists in history have come to be treated with the awe and respect regularly accorded to John McLaughlin. A household name since the early '70s, John was an innovative fusion guitarist when he led the Mahavishnu Orchestra. He has continued to live up to his reputation as a phenomenal and consistently inquisitive player through the years.
