The Border Crossings Christmas special discusses the fascinating history, culture and politics of Christianity in South Asia with Professor Betty Joseph from Rice University.

Some forms of Christianity in India have their roots in Middle-East and predate most of European Christianity! Christian community is culturally assimilated and has lived harmoniously with other religions for centuries. However, the religious radicalization and western influence are causing change. Charismatic Christian revivalism including televangelism is emerging. Tune in and learn about all of these topics….

Our guest for the show is BETTY JOSEPH, who was born in Kerala, India. She attended schools in New Delhi, Shillong and Bombay before moving to the US in the 1980s. She now teaches in the English Department at Rice University.
