This week we Interview Arvind Kejriwal, 2006 Magsaysay Award
Winner, Emergent Leadership.
Arvind has been spearheading efforts to fight corruption in India
by the creative use of the Right to Information act. He has also
been a major contributor in drafting the National Right to
Information Act that was passed in 2005. Last month, Arvind was
in the forefront of a grassroots campaign that successfully
prevented the Government of India from diluting the Right to
Information Act
He founded an organization called Parivartan (meaning change) to
fight corruption (www.parivartan.com) . His work has been widely
recognized and he was an Ashoka Fellow in 2004 and the latest
honor he has received is the Magsaysay award. He has just
returned from Manila after receiving the Magsaysay award.
Arvind was an officer in the Indian Revenue Service before he
founded Parivartan. He graduated from IIT Kharagpur in 1989 with
a degree in mechanical engineering.
